Canine Adventure Planning 101

Have you ever wondered what it would be like travelling with your dog? Whether you're travelling by plane, train or automobile there are a few things you should know before you take Fido on a trip with you. By doing some research and careful preparation, going on an adventure with your dog can be fun for both of you.

I've owned dogs for 13 years and in that time we have shared numerous adventures travelling to Alaska, Wisconsin, Connecticut and throughout California. I have two labs, Zeke and Daisy and they have been transported via commercial airlines, floatplanes, ferries, boats, and of course by car.

I have had some of the most wonderful and exciting experiences travelling with them. Looking back, I don't think any of these trips would have been as fun or as memorable without them. I'll be highlighting some of our most fun experiences over the years through photos, videos and stories. Tell us some of your own favorite dog adventure stories here on the "Share Your Travel Tails" page. We'll post a new reader's story every month.

"I've always thought a hotel ought to offer optional small animals. I mean a cat to sleep on your bed at night, or a dog of some kind to act pleased when you come in. You ever notice how a hotel room feels so lifeless?"
